Abstract

The idea of imitating Western design has led to the integration of British colonial architecture in the city of Aden today. The majority of the populace believes that British Neo-Classical architecture is superior due to its institutional support of capitalism and democracy and its superiority to traditional architecture's novelty and antiquity. From the pre-colonial to the colonial period, Aden's architectural styles changed, and this transitional period became crucial for the advancement and expansion of architectural design. Hence, this paper investigated the impact of colonial architectural style on modern-day architectural design and style in Aden city. Through observation and interviews with built environment researchers’ period and professionals, the study used a qualitative technique of research. About 10 specialists participated in the interview, and 12 colonial structures were extensively used. The results showed that Aden's social, political, and economic characteristics were significantly impacted by the roughly 129-year British colonial presence there. The idea that the classical architecture of British colonial front buildings impacted other building design styles in Aden, Yemen, is another. Influence, authenticity, and goals of the Neo-Classical architectural style in Yemen's Aden city. It is advised that the same study be conducted using a quantitative approach in the majority of Yemen as a country to compare.
